After enthralling mechanical buffs with last year's Aeternitas watch, a perpetual calendar made to run for 1,000 years without the need for adjustment, Franck Muller duly delivers his complication knock-out with Aeternitas Mega collection.
It features four models (the Mega 1, 2, 3, and 4), the most complex being the Mega 4 which packs in six staggering complications in one watch.
Housed in Franck Muller's iconic Cintree Curvex case with a similarly-shaped movement, the mega 4 is equipped with a grand and petite sonnerie with Westminster carillon, tourbillon, flyback chronograph, eternal calendar, equation of time and two additional time zones.
More impressive than fitting the myriad complications in a single package is the technical cachet of the sonnerie complication.
Besides the 1,000-year longevity of its eternal calendar which is adapted from the original Aeternitas, improvement has also been made to the sonnerie function with an additional barrel fitted in the movement dedicated to powering the striking mechanism.
Discerning fans of minute repeaters will also be awed by the aural quality of the sonnerie which mimics chimes from the clock tower of the Westminster cathedral.
