Sporting superstars hardly ever age well. Just look at Diego Maradona or Mike Tyson. Thankfully, the revages of time, gravity, and the good life don`t quite affect Tag Heuer's new Grand Carrera, a souped-up stunner with roots in the iconic Carrera racing chronographs first launched in 1964.

Its creators have bestowed the 'Grand' title on the collection for several reasons, the most important being its symbolic entry into the upper echelons of mechanical watchmaking by way of improved movement innovations and fine finishing.

All three models in the debut collection - an automatic with small seconds, a GMT with twin-date, and a two-counter chronograph -tout a disc indication system (known as the RS, short for rotating system) that is mounted on the COSC-certified Calibres 6, 8, and 17 respectively. So instead of having hands on the sub-dials like other watches, the secondary indicators come with fixed pointers and rotating discs underneath to display the information.

The indicators have even been fashioned to look like open-worked watch rotors, complete with Cotes de Geneva decoration and exquisite bevelling work to accord the Grand Carrera its definitive look.
